L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid (meaning the body cannot produce it on its own). Dietary sources of L-Tryptophan include egg whites, cod, pumpkin seeds, cheese, turkey, pork, and milk.

It also plays a key role in the body's synthesis of melatonin and serotonin -- hormones involved in mood and stress response.     With melatonin, my wife got a chemical depression.  L-Tryptophan seems OK for allowing her to fall back to sleep upon waking at 2 or 4 AM.  Seems to work a little better with a small drop of Jack Daniels on a piece of cake!  Still experimenting.  Glad you added this item.
