Product Information

It may sound Italian, but Oregano actually comes from the Greek meaning “mountains of joy.” Grown in remote mountainous regions of the Mediterranean, the Oregano plant has long been recognized as a natural cure for what ails you.

The Kat doesn’t mean to be negative, but she’s never encountered an herb that is so anti- so many different things! Anti- comes from the Greek for ‘against’ or ‘instead of’ and Oil of Oregano works against a lot. Oil of Oregano packs a potent punch, knocking out many of the bad guys that can quietly infest the body.

As an added bonus, Oil of Oregano is loaded with a long list of vitamins including: calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, copper, boron, manganese, vitamin C, vitamin A, and niacin. The Co-op especially suggests Oil of Oregano in support of digestive, respiratory, joint and immune system health.

The key element in oregano is the oil which contains Carvacrol, a natural phenol which helps support the existence of healthy bacteria. Add in Flavonoids with their Terpenes, a potent soft tissue benefactor for your health.

So, yes, continue to liberally sprinkle Oregano on your pizza, pasta, and salads for seasoning, but also consider adding supplemental Oil of Oregano. May also be used topically or on your toothbrush to support dental health and hygiene.

Our Health Co-op's Oil of Oregano comes in an easy to swallow size 3S softgel.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that herbs are higher in antioxidant levels than fruits, vegetables, and spices.  Oregano had 3 – 20 times higher antioxidant levels than any other herbs studied.
  • Oregano has 42 times more antioxidants than apples, 30 times more than potatoes, 12 times more than oranges, and 4 times more than blueberries.
  • Until 1950, Oil of Oregano was frequently used to sterilize pre-operative instruments.
  • The Cure in the Cupboard by Cass Ingram, D.O. is a comprehensive book extolling the health benefits of Oregano and Oil of Oregano.

Use this regularly to combat inflammation November 26, 2013
Reviewer: Danny from Utah
Some things I eat cause my sinuses to swell. I pop one or two of these (depending on the severity), and then I pop a probiotic or 2 about 30 minutes later and the swelling goes down. It's not a magic cure, but it is definitely noticeable.
